Job Description:

As a Children’s Social Worker, you will play a vital role in making a positive difference in the lives of children, young people, and their families. You will work to safeguard children from harm and promote their welfare, working in accordance with the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of children’s needs, risks, and vulnerabilities in collaboration with other professionals.
  • Develop, implement, and review effective care plans that support children and young people’s health, education, and emotional well-being.
  • Work directly with children, young people, and families in a variety of settings, providing support and intervention.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring all documentation is up to date and in line with statutory requirements.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and decision-making forums to advocate for the best interests of the child.
  • Provide evidence in court when necessary and work within the legal framework with regards to child protection and care proceedings.
  • Offer guidance and support to foster carers and adoptive parents.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to keep abreast of changes in policy, practice, and legislation.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Social Work degree or equivalent and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in a social work capacity.
  • Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding, and child protection issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children and young people.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and equal opportunities.
  • A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle is desirable.
